family ties.

My blog has been riddled this summer with more comments than ever before. What could be the cause? More readership? More controversial topics? Actually, it's neither.

It's my brother-in-law.

Here's the deal. He reads daily from the comfortable confines of his law firm. And he must take long breaks (which would explain why he comments on posts from six months prior). In some ways, Mike is a perfect blogging candidate. He's up-to-date on news and sports and...ummm...legal stuff. He likes to pull together lists of "the all time best Buddy Cop movies" and speculate about a college basketball mascot tourney.

But he has a fatal flaw. He's a technophobe. At least, he was.

Perhaps Mike's recent string of comments will convince him to stick another toe in the water.

Presumably, you are just trying to rile me up by calling me a “technophobe,” and well, it’s worked! Stick a toe in the water, my ass. I’m wading in technology up to my nipples. I am on the computer all day (and although I use Firefox sometimes, apparently I’m too dense to figure out why it is superior to IE), have an ipod, use a digital camera, and manage my bills and banking online. For goodness sakes, I told YOU about how to use your mac mini to revolutionize your home media center. Anyway, I guess you could say that I love technology like a brother-in-law.

As for buddy cop movies, check it out -- http://www.the-numbers.com/movies/series/BuddyCop.php

Whoa. Mission accomplished. I guess now you know what it's like to have a younger brother.

For the record, I had a mac mini serving music to my apartment in Ann Arbor a year ago. So there.

A Mac Mini serving music in your apartment -- congratulations, you own a $600 ipod.

No, I am talking about a true home media center where the Mini serves as a music center, but also photo shop, dvd player and burner, is hooked up to a hi-def tv so you can alternate between your show and the internet (or do split screen if you have a big enough tv), and do it all from the couch with a wireless keyboard and an armada of remotes. Now that so many people have invested in massive hi-def tvs, the ability to surf the net while watching tv and/or listening to music all from the comfort of your Lay-Z-Boy is the next step.

But I really appreciate your reply to my response to your posting. You see, this back and forth (gesturing ala George Costanza), this should be the show.

And by the way, my idiot law school friends and I now have a fledgling blog. I suppose that you deserve some of the credit. http://uclaw98.blogspot.com/

Moose, who runs a much more boring blog (http://hammondlawgroup.blogspot.com/) used his expertise to get it up and running. Much like restaurant reviewers give a new place 6 months to work out the kinks, give us some time to hit our stride.
